2021 Tempranillo
Tasting Notes
Rich, complex and brooding. This is wine of layers, aromas of ripe bing cherry, blackberry, cantelope wrapped in prociutto, all spice, toasted brazil nuts and fresh tobacco leaf. On the palate initial ripe cherry cola & plum, moving into tobacco leaf, soft acid and superfine developed tannins with roasted nuts and a long smokey black cherry finish.
Winemaking
An ode to Rioja Gran Reserva this Tempranillo is aged for 5 years years prior to release. The fruit was 100% destemmed into open fermenters for a slow cool ferment with lots of cap manipulation then pressing after 14 days. The wine was then aged for over 4 years in seasoned barriques developing deep secondary characters, prior to blending and bottling.
